Variable from an AM radio, probably the late 1920s. It is 3-1/4" x 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" H, with the original knob. The plates are close spaced, so it probably exceeds 500 pF. It could use a good cleaning.

 

This is a Heathkit model C-3 condenser checker. This powers up and seems to be in working condition. It can be returned for a refund if not happy.
