I am not an expert, but the owner has had this rug for quite a number of years: is from before the revolution (1979). There is a design woven into the rug and I'm not sure what it represents - likely

 

THIS RUG WAS HAND WOVEN IN THE AREA OF HERAT IN AFGHANESTAN. THE RUG IS 100% WOOL. THIS RUG IS OF VERY FINE QUALITY AND IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH FULL PILES .THE APPROXIMATE SIZE IS 8.2x 9' 10
