I BELIEVE THIS IS A LOBSTER TRAP TOGGLE, THE SMALLER OF THE TWO BUOYS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO A LOBSTER TRAP. THIS PIECE MARKS EXACTLY WHERE THE TRAP IS ON THE OCEAN BOTTOM, WHEREAS THE BUOY FLOATS ABOUT

 

5 1/4" Wide x 3 1/8" Wide x 2" High Wonderful new reproduction scrimshaw carved bone box. As you can see this piece is tiled with ox bone on wood and decorated with a design typical of the period. Nic
