Here we have an antique wooden pickle dipper or strainer that was used in old country stores for scooping pickles out of jars .... the jars of pickles were usually on the countertop at the register ..

 

The chain is handmade with envy iron for greater strength. At the bottom there are two hooks that were hanging cauldron which is cooked over the fire. Chain length - 80 inches in stretched condition.
